Online Casinos Alive and Well for US Players
Depsite the UIGEA, online gambling is alive and well and will continue to
thrive. The US law has made for some hurdles, but the new law is not supported
by countless citizens that enjoy playing at online casinos and will continue to
try to sway the opinion of their elected officials to legalize and regulate
online gambling.
Recently in Barcelona, at the European Interactive Gaming Congress and Expo,
owners, operators and other interested parties had a chance to discuss the
issues with members from around the world. One gaming lawyer from the US stated
that the issue of online gambling is not dead, but says that the individual
states are noticing the demand by citizens for online gambling and are seeing
that it would indeed help their collective states by increasing their revenues.
Current president of the IMEGA, Edward Leyden was one of the keynote speakers at
the event in Barcelona and he supports the fact that those people who are of
age, have a right to gamble and to pursue other adult activities while online.
He went on to sing the praises of Judge Mary Cooper who is hearing arguements by
the IMEGA against the Department of Justice who have requested a restraining
order on the UIGEA, and remains hopeful that an ammicable solution can be
reached.
