Down Under for Bet Fair
New South Wales is thinking about getting a license to operate Internet
Gambling, as reported by the media recently. An online casino and betting
firm called Betfair could have an operating license in the state of New South
Wales very soon, they government is said to be in discussions with the online
gaming company Aussie operations, which are partly owned by James Packer's PBL
company and they already have a license to operate in Tasmania.
It has been said by some in the business that Betfair is an internet company so
it already has a license in some Australian districts so it is simple for
players to get online and use it. They do not have to create a whole new method
of doing things it is just a question how they would get the best revenue out of
the deal.
The state government is currently investigating how everything works and how
they can contribute to the New South Wales racing industry as well as the
critical services in the state like hospitals, schools and police so this would
be good for the state all around.
Some people in New South Wales are concerned about the government giving the
company the license because it is banned in 47 out of 50 of the leading
thoroughbred racing countries in the world and he is worried that this will
allows what are known as 'punters' to simply bet on losing horses.
