European Friends Join the Fight For Gambling
Antigua is a very small island, but they have a very big voice and they are
speaking out against the US for their gambling ban. In fact they are doing much
more than just speaking out. They are challenging the US because of the legal
aspects that have in effect banned financial transactions to and from online
casinos and online bingo and other types of online gambling. When this was done
Antigua charged the US with a treaty violation, and now the European Union has
joined in on the fight. Both entities are seeking compensation for their members
losses, because millions come every year from US players.
The law in question was put in place in 2006 and it keeps banks and financial
institutions from processing transactions from players in the United States and
their gaming companies. Basically what accounted for half of the industry
revenues each year was abruptly cut off and Antigua sees this as a breech of
international trade laws and is willing to fight for it.
At this point everyone in the gambling world is watching the case closely
looking for some sign of a change in the US law.
